Reciprocal Feeding

The ruby-throated beauty came to feed;
But empty feeder found, to his dismay.
Enjoying my morning coffee and a read,
My tiny friend presented to my face.

"Excuse me Miss, but we are out of fuel.
Our tiny tanks need energy supplied.
Oh, in your kindness, help a guy stay full?
Without a sugary substance, I might die."

"Sweet friend, you feed my longing for delight!
I'll hasten in and cook a batch of mead.
Don't go too far--I want to make this right!
Your daily visits meet a heart-felt need."

One who feeds is by the other blessed.
