The soaring hawk surveys the field below;
As locusts' chorus swells and then subsides.
A battle for the nectar where it flows--
Those tiny pilots buzzing side to side.

Cardinals' scarlet robes chase through the trees;
Whistling pure and sweet in cheerful calls.
They listen for a lover to appease,
And join the joyful early morning ball.

Fuzzy, furry, fluffy, frisky squirrels
Arrive en masse to raid the food supply;
Barking their behests to beasts and birds
To stay at bay until they're satisfied.

Summer's morning fauna on display
Fills my soul with wonder every day.

    Sometimes expression is deepest when I take time to come up with word pictures and strive for a certain form (Sonnets work well).
