Who is this One for whom we wait?

| When God spoke all creation came to 'be'. Creative, tender, loving, powerful Voice. His 'Life-breath Image' into man he breathed. Yes. ONLY human beings know His joys. From hummingbirds to giant birds of prey; From tiny crabs to massive breeching whale-- Each organism properly sustained. Original design: Flawless. Pure. Sun, moon, earth, stars--His Masterpiece revealed. A perfect tension, held safe in His love. Before 'the fall', before mankind rebelled-- Shalom on earth, just as in heaven above. To chaos, God speaks, "Peace." "Truth." "Unity." Both then, and NOW, The Word speaks Life Complete. | |
I rise again this morning, and I see
The scenes of yesterdays still on repeat.
My neighbors in their daily routines flow--
The kids to school. The pets outside. Then, "Go!'
News today? There's nothing 'new' to tell.
Another thousand lives in Gaza fell.
Another active shooter at a school.
Another Party face-off. Who will rule?
Christ warned us, "In this world you will have strife."
He said, "I am the Way, the Truth, the Life."
He charged his kids to BE His hands, His feet.
His Love, His Power to Save, His Joy, His Peace.
'Til His return, we on His Promise lean;
To live well for Him, In the In-Between.

My Question: How can mere mortal meet a Holy God?
His Reply: My mercy bids you, "Come! Be loved again!"
An invitation undeserved, so odd.
Yet in His Presence we anew begin!

My Question: How can flawed mortal please a perfect King?
His Reply: "My gift of Love and Life cannot be earned.
"Delight is mine when son and daughter sing,
"When troubled life-songs to Me, fully turn."

Such paradox: Creator. Lover. Lord.
His loved Creation? Prideful enemy!!
But Love He is, and Faithful to His Word--
Repentant rebels --lavishly received!!!

True miracle of mercy; Makes no sense!
Yet greater senselessness?--Those who reject.

| Breath A gentle sway of treetops signals change; Then golden wheatfields wake, in tandem wave. Rich, mellow tones of wind chimes resonate. Oh breath of God, your chorus through us play. Water Cool mountain streams refresh a weary soul. A long and gentle shower soaks the land. In ocean waves, relaxing rhythms flow. Fresh springs from heaven, nourish hearts again. Fire Inferno plunders, purging land of 'life'. A candle glowing brightly lights the way. A campfire toasts a gooey warm delight. Transforming Spirit, burn in me today. Refining forces heal, but also break. The Spirit's Ways--Creator re-creates. |   |
